WHO IS ASPIRE?
About Me
I am Heather, I qualified as an intensive care nurse in 2016, bringing me almost 10 years nursing experience in acute and complex community care roles. I have gained extensive experience in a range of nursing environments, working in numerous trusts and units across the nation as an ICU agency nurse, at each hospital learning another approach or method to deliver care, and the past 3 years in complex care in the community, one being a lead nurse for a complex care provider.
I have always found teaching and training highly rewarding, and I always knew my career would lead into education in some way. I now deliver training independently, drawing on my past experiences and knowledge. As someone who has also attended many tedious training sessions, I understand how important engagement is, not only to gain the most from the training, but to enjoy it too.
I love to share the hints, tips and tricks that I have picked up over my nursing career to guide and help others as well as ensuring that only the highest standard of care is delivered and patient safety is maintained.
PS: I still work as a nurse in a complex care package once a week, and this work is very important to me, it means I get to practice my skills, stay up to date, and just be a nurse!
Why I Founded Aspire Clinical Education
I want care teams to feel confident in their roles and clients to feel comfortable and safe in their care. I love teaching and I wanted to create a place to deliver high quality, evidence based, practical training. I have accumulated my training kit over many years of experience and I love to allow staff to troubleshoot, manage and explore real-world kit before applying it in practice.
How My Training is Different
Training is delivered in small groups to allow time for questions, practice and individual support.
Training is guided from real clinical practice, drawing on experience supporting people with complex healthcare needs in both intensive care and community settings.
I focus on hands-on learning, discussion and scenario-based teaching so that learners leave feeling confident in their skills and understanding.
My training is fun! I make training engaging and full of activities, to ensure learners leave feeling uplifted and motivated.
Professional Standards
I deliver thorough and in depth training, assessments and consultancy, recognising that comprehensive information, care plans and support make a difference within complex care. I am detailed in my assessments and thorough in my care plans, paying close attention to the small details that can make a big difference to safe practice and good quality care.
I have a strong understanding of CQC regulations and requirements, alongside the NMC Code and NHS guidance, utilising all of this information to deliver an evidence based and accurate service.
