Enteral PEG Feeding Training Workshop

ACCREDITED PRACTICAL PEG FEEDING TRAINING

Learners develop the knowledge and practical skills required to administer enteral feeding safely, give medication via a gastrostomy device and recognise complications that require escalation.

Training combines clinical teaching with hands-on practice using real equipment to build confidence in day-to-day care.

What is included in the training?

  • The digestive system

  • How nutrition/hydration needs are assessed

  • Reasons for feeding tubes

  • Nasogastric tube care (NG Tube)

  • Balloon gastrostomy tube care (RIG)

  • PEG tube care (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)

  • Low profile button devices (MIC-KEY and Mini button)

  • Practical skills: flushing, extension sets, checking pH, changing balloon water

  • Routine care of those with feeding tubes

  • Gastrostomy button changes

  • Feeding methods - pump and bolus

  • Recognising complications, emergencies, aspiration risks
